Ann Coulter

Torporindy was recently linked on on Michelle Malkin's site as an example of a cruel liberal blogger. This was because I mentioned in passing that Ann Coulter had a horse face. I wonder what Michelle would think of David Honig's cartoon satirizing Horseface's treatment of the 9/11 widows.

Hilarious.

Check out other funny political cartoon's at Honig's site

You know, I post political cartoons all the time on bilerico.com, but I deliberately skipped that one. Why? Because it's offensive.

You can despise Ann all you want, but why use the transgendered as an insult? It's the same as calling her a lesbian and then hoping people giggle.

There's nothing wrong with being transgender. It doesn't make you prone to "run at the mouth" disease - what afflicts Ann so badly... It just makes you different. And that's not something to make fun of...

No, there is definitely nothing wrong with being transgender, but there is definitely something wrong with Ann Coulter.

bil, I certainly know where you're coming from, and I really hesitated a lot before drawing the cartoon. But ultimately I drew it, not as a transgender 'toon, but as a "Coulter pissing on the remains" 'toon. After several sketches of a squatting Coulter, I gave up as just too crude. I then hit on the fall-back position, given the many rumors as well as the ease of drawing, on the 'toon you see. It is a shot, not at transgender, but Coulter herself, not only for her hatefulness, but her bizarre (in its presentation and the way others lap it up) pretense of "sexy blonde," when she appears to me to be little more than an anorexic and quite masculine, but otherwise totally generic, blonde.

So, no offense intended, but I certainly see where some can be taken.

Thanks guys for such nice responses. I'm not trying to stir the crap, I'm just saying why I didn't post it on my site too. I know from seeing other toons (and posting a couple on the blog!) that Doug's sense of humor is the driving force. In no way am I implying that he's transphobic or hateful or any of the usual terms thrown around with abandon.

I almost posted a comment on his blog when I saw the toon go up and hesitated. Then when we e-mailed back and forth recently I thought about bringing it up and didn't. So when I saw it here I just thought, "Do it. Say it."

On bilerico.com I've noticed a couple times that someone has insulted Ann Coulter with some sort of gender comment. Each time it has brought a transperson immediately to the comments section to take them to task for it. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, "Be careful. Some segments wouldn't find that cartoon funny at all." *shrugs*

oooo - does this mean that I am edgy or otherwise daring because I read Toporindy's blog?
