Writing Makes Your Soul Grow
The most recent issue of the Hartford Advocate has an interview with Kurt Vonnegut. Enjoy him while he is still with us.
Kurt Vonnegut may be the most recognizable writer in America. People who haven´t read his books -- who don´t even read -- know who he is or know, just by looking at that Kilgore Trout of a face, that he is a writer. Maybe even THE writer. Certainly he´s among the last of a dying breed of postwar giants -- and World War II veterans -- who reshaped American fiction, a circle that includes Norman Mailer, William Styron, Gore Vidal and his close friend Joseph Heller, who died last year.

¨Our leaders are power-drunk chimpanzees¨ who treat American soldiers ¨like toys a rich kid got for Christmas.¨
That sums it up pretty well. As JFK said....."Art is not prpaganda, it's the truth."
That was the same quote I was about to paste in.
His new book is sublime. I read extracts in a UK newspaper. He writes so well it makes me angry. Actually angry.
Very true, Marie.
Welcome, pluvialis
