One of my least favorite State Senators, Pat Miller, chairs the Health Finance section committee in the State Legislature and supports a bill in the next term where reproductive assistance in the form of "intrauterine insemination, donation of an egg, donation of an embryo, in vitro fertilization and transfer of an embryo, and sperm injection" would be limited only to married couples. Gays and singles would be prohibited from using this form of reproductive assistance. Also, married couples will have to undergo a background check including an investigation into their participation in church or faith-based activities. I doubt that includes Wicca . There was no mention of this in the Indianapolis Star but this story has already been picked up by the national media. I am hopeful that this is one of those crazy bills that never make out of committee, but one cannot be so optimistic when the Republicans control houses in the legislature and the governor's office.
