Bush Blair Memo

The NY Times has seen a memo from two months before the war started in Iraq. It is obvious President Bush was determined to go to war with Iraq. Here are some revelations:

-From private talks between George Bush and UK PM Tony Blair, the memo makes it clear the US was determined to go to war whether or not he had UN backing.

-He is quoted discussing ways to provoke Saddam Hussein into a confrontation.

-The US "was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in UN colours", Mr Bush said. If Saddam fired on them, the Iraqis would be in breach of UN resolutions, he suggested.

-He also indicated the US "might be able to bring out a defector" to talk about Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, and mentioned a proposal to assassinate the Iraqi leader.

-Although the US and UK pushed for a second UN resolution on Iraq, the memo cites Mr Bush saying he did not believe one was needed.

-the president and the prime minister acknowledged that no unconventional weapons had been found inside Iraq.

You've got to be kidding me.

Why do I still get surprised?

People that voted for him (not once, but twice) should be ashamed... but they are not.

The sad part is the complete lack of outrage by most of the nation.

Yes, you are absolutely right Smarty. Three million people are marching in France over a proposed change in labor laws. I don't know why we are so complacent.

Everyone,

It's because we (maybe not WE, but most of America) either beleive what is fed to us, or are too obscessed with pop culture in our daily lives to pay attention as our country goes up in flames around us. I realize that I am preaching to the choir here, but seriously, think about the latest gossip around the water-cooler at your employer.
I suspect, nay I KNOW that your peers will know FAR more about who's winning on American Idol than what our so-called leaders are doing to our country. We need to PREACH (for lack of a better word) to our friends and co-workers about what is taking place around us, and how it DOES and WILL affect their lives.

Too many sheep, too few knowledgeable herders. . .

Just one man's humble opinion. Any thoughts on this?

yeah, no one gives a crap, though. In fact, we've been saying it so long and the media releases each new "revelation" in drabbles, so people are actually saying things like "who cares, that's in the past, let's move on now..." as if it's no big deal. (if I hear the words "blame game" one more time I may have to do bodily harm to the person using them.)
