Rick Steves--PBS--16th century girls gone wild

The American Taliban is attacking the mild mannered travel writer Rick Steves' show on PBS. Apparently, the Rick Steves can no longer show nude works of art like Titian's Venus on his show because it may run afoul of the FCC.

See link at Daily Kos and thanks to Reverent and Free for pointing this out.

I wonder if this FCC b.s. has anything to do with the fact that Steves is now focusing his efforts on radio? He has a new show on NPR now. You think that they chased him off of the television for showing paintings of boobies?

I thought that as well, Jim. I caught the tail end of an interview with him on NPR. I'll have to look it up in the archives to see if I can get some insight.

Elisabeth, I support full nipple exposure at this site.

how can americans lust for death and be frighened of their own bodies? it's really sick. maybe the sight of a nude body remindes them too much of how close to death and ruin we all are while seeing someone maimed on tv is just, well, sport.

There has got to be some serious psychological investigations done into this.
