I went to visit my family in southwestern Indiana this weekend. I saw a few interesting things:

- In Terre Haute, I saw a car with a domino's pizza delivery sign on it. The car was a fairly new Mercedes. Strange.

_ In a Ponderosa (yes, I said Ponderosa, there aren't a lot of options down there) I saw two people with oxygen tanks sitting in the middle of the smoking section.

- On a more serious note, a girl I dated briefly a long time ago has been charged with murder.

I'd have to say you're lucky to be out of that relationship!

I knew she wasn't the "marrying kind". It was just one of those fleeting home from college bored in the summer type of things. I knew she had a rough life, she had been adopted, was living on her own at an early age, but I never expected this.

I shouldn't speculate, but perhaps she got hooked on meth.

Meth kills, kids.

When I was picking up cold medicine this weekend, going through the whole "sign your name by your driver's license so that the state can make sure you're not a meth-head" process, I was very tempted to make a joke -- but decided against it. The Walgreen's lady didn't seem in a joking mood.

There seem to be two ways to look at assisted-breathing people sitting in the smoking section. A Republican might marvel at the technology and the society that allows free choice, a Democrat would rush in a drag them out.

I didn't know what to make of it. I used to deliver medicine for a pharmacy and I would deliver to a lot places that had signs. "No smoking please. Oxygen in home".

I don't know how safe assisted breathing technology is these days. Perhaps the technology has changed and they can sit there worry-free.

Actually, they were closest to the salad bar. I figured they sat there because of that reason even if they put themselves and others in peril.

I work with people who are on oxygen and smoke in the home in close proximity to the tanks. I have never actually heard of a case of the tank exploding, but I know that the danger is there.
